Fangs & Guns: Ch.2

The morning was cold, and I shivered.
I was wearing a black long sleeved V-necked shirt and black jeans.
I had a dark grey vest over my shirt and black and white converse that went above my ankles.
As I neared the school, I watched a lot of other girls driving by in their sport cars.
“Preps,” I muttered.
As I walked onto campus, a few people stared, but luckily, not many.
I followed the map around the school and found most of my classes, but I was extremely lost with others.
I was about to ask a tall blonde haired boy, but the bell rang.
The boy shot off towards a small group of buildings near the back.
I followed, seeing as my first class was that way.
I walked into the small room that would serve as my English class.
Lucky for me, the year just started, so I hadn’t missed much, just the people.
A few girls turned to stare at me as I walked in.
The blonde boy was sitting in one of the back tables, and the others were full.
I walked over to him.
“Is this seat taken?” I asked.
His crimson eyes darted up to look at me.
He shook his head, and I sat down next to him, setting my bag down next to my chair.
“Alright everyone, settle down,” the teacher said, walking in.
He looked at a paper on his desk, most likely the attendance.
I was very curious on what the boy’s name next to me was.
He kept looking at e out of the corner of his eye, and there was something about him that made me suspicious.
I felt some sort of tingling at the ends of my fingers, and I couldn’t remember where I had felt this before.
“Rika Aais?” the teacher said.
“Here,” I replied.
I heard a few people whispering at the mention of my name.
“Hey,” the boy in front of me said, turning around in his seat.
“Aren’t you part of that vampire hunter family?”
“I used to be,” I whispered back.
“That’s cool,” he said.
I looked over at the blonde boy next to me, and saw he was glaring at the other boy.
The other boy had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.
“I’m Kyle,” he said.
“Hi.”
“Kyle Rankuo!” the teacher yelled.
Kyle shot his head back to the front, yelling, “Here!”
“Please pay attention, Kyle,” the teacher said.
“Yes sir,” Kyle replied.
The boy next to me smirked.
The teacher continued with his greetings.
‘Huh?’ I thought. ‘What about this guy?’
I looked over at the boy next to me.
He was watching the teacher, but every now and then, he’d look over at me.
The tingling kept growing stronger.
I tried to ignore it and paid attention.
The bell rang after an hour and everyone nearly ran out, except for me, the blonde and Kyle.
“What’s your next class?” Kyle asked.
“Science,” I answered.
“I’ve got math, I’ll see you later,” he ran off.
“Bye,” I muttered, waving slightly.
“Now if I even knew where the Science class was,” I murmured to myself.
“Come on, then,” the blonde said, walking past me.
I stared at him.
He stopped and turned a little to look at me.
“I’ve got the same class next, so you can follow me,” he said, before turning and walking away.
I ran after him, needing to run to catch up.
He stayed quiet after that, still looking at me out of the corner of his crimson red eyes.
He was really cute, now that I got a good look at him.
He had blonde brown hair like me, but part of it fell over his right eye.
I could see his muscles underneath his navy blue shirt.
I realized we were heading towards a small building at the front of the school.
I kept watching him out of the corner of my own eye.
Neither of us were watching where we were going.
Two girls ran between us, laughing.
They pushed us out of the way.
WHAM!
I slid to the ground, holding the back of my head, and glared at the pole I had just run into.
The blonde boy laughed, and I turned my glare on him.
“Not very graceful on your feet for a slayer,” he teased.
“Oh, shut it,” I snapped back, rubbing the bump that had formed.
He leaned over me, a playful smile on his face.
I got lost in his gaze for a brief moment.
“Hey, Grace, where’s Will?” he asked, laughing again.
“How about I slam your head into a pole and see if you keep laughing!”
I thought I saw a flicker of uncertainty flicker in his red eyes, but his playful smile stayed.
“Come on,” he said, straightening up. “You’re gonna make us late.”
He walked off.
I grabbed my bag and ran after him.
We made it to class on time, luckily.
Although, my day was still annoying.
He was in every class.
Every time I walked into the room, he was sitting there.
The desk next to him was always empty, so I always had to sit next to him.
And when I’d follow him to a class, he’d comment about watching where I walk.
The main problem was: I still didn’t know his name!
Each teacher already knew him, so they didn’t call his name at loud during attendance.
I was close to screaming, until Gym came.
We were all dressed out in our gym uniforms, I kept tugging at mine.
Girls had to wear skirts, but I had shorts underneath.
“Rika Aais?” the teacher called.
“Here,” I replied. She pointed to the spot in front of her, and I sat down.
I sighed.
I hated always being first.
“Corrin Acaine,” the teacher called.
I had been watching the blonde out of the corner of my eye, and saw him walking towards me.
‘So that’s what his name is.’ I thought.
Corrin sat behind me, still watching me out of the corner of his eye.
Once everyone was seated, the teacher announced that we would be playing dodge ball.
Kyle, who was in the same class, bounced over to me.
I noticed Corrin glare at him again.
He always did that when Kyle was around.
“I love dodge ball,” Kyle said.
“That makes one of us,” I muttered.
“You don’t like it?”
“Not since my brother died,” I replied, walking away.
Corrin, Kyle and I were on the same team, and everyone began to throw bright yellow balls around.
Corrin and I were the best.
Within five minutes, it was us two against four other boys.
I looked over at the bleachers.
Everyone we had hit had a bright red imprint of the ball.
Corrin, who was standing a few feet away, threw the all and hit one of the boys in the arm.
I saw the red immediately.
‘Ouch.’ I thought, although I’d had worse.
“Hey,” I called. Corrin looked at me. “Since we seem to be able to beat these guys with both hands tied behind out back. . .”
Corrin smirked.
“Why not go easy on them?” I finished.
WHAM!
‘Not again!’ I thought.
The boy Corrin had hit, while walking out, had thrown the ball, and hit me in the head.
That added to the bump the pole ad given me this morning.
“Are you okay?” Corrin asked, running over.
“Remember what I said about going easy?”
Yeah,” he answered cautiously.
I looked at him, “Screw it!”
I grabbed a ball, and threw it as hard as I could, hitting another boy in the shoulder, hard enough that he fell backwards.
Corrin smirked and threw another ball, hitting another boy.
Then, we both threw a all, and hit the last boy at the same time.
The teacher blew the whistle, signaling the end of the game.
I ran to the locker room, and quickly changed out of the dreaded skirt.
